Naga New Year Festival
 
2011 NAGA TRADITIONAL NEW YEAR FESTIVAL
LAHAE, NAGA LAND, MYANMAR

Time : 14th to 15th of January 2011

Duration : 2 days

Description : NAGA is a hiding ancient in Myanmar. During this festival, you can get unforgettable experience. If you haven’t seen them before, you will be surprised by seeing Native Naga men and women dressed up in their traditional and ancient ethnic costumes a grand head-dress made of a rattan hat topped with monkey fur and two fangs of a wild boar and long hornbill feathers, with a string of tiger claws in his face.
You can also enjoy their own unique songs and dances that you may never have seen before.
This Naga New Year Festival will give you full of surprises, new discovery and deep impression.

 

2011 NAGA FESTIVAL 

January 12

The Charter Flight leaves Yangon early in the morning for a short stop at Mandalay International Airport, and father to Khamti Airport. After the arrival there, Guests are transported by local motor vehicles (trucks / Lorries) to the Ferry on the Chindwin River. On the other side of the river lies Sinthei Village. Then move father by 4x4 Off Road Pickups of Lahae, while on the way falling into a trance charmed by the panorama of Naga Mountain Ranges. Lunch Box is served at the rest station on pleasant Namsalain Stream, where Guests have a chance to enjoy rare local amenities. After dinner in Lahae, a night’s rest and further stay is arranged in the Naga indigenous huts.

January 13

After breakfast, a roam or an observation in the surrounding neighborhood and villages can be taking by riding in a car or on foot through one’s own arrangement. Lunch Box can be ordered in advance at the Reception for that purpose. An informative video feature on Naga is entertained after dinner.

January 14

Guests may take part in the Naga traditional “Ceremony of Erection of Pole” from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, and may go for a walk around the vicinity of the Festival.

January 15

After breakfast, Guests take their places on the Festival grounds to attend the traditional “Opening Ceremony of Naga New Year”, commencing at 8:30 am. In the evening, from 6:30 to 10:00 pm, Guests take pleasure in the bonfire and Naga traditional dances while enjoying traditional food and rice wine.

January 16

To leave Lahae at 5:00 am and head back home after having breakfast at 4:00 am. Lunch Box is served at Khanti Ferry. Fly back to Yangon or Mandalay.

Note: The Itinerary can be changeable according to weather and unexpected conditions.

 

IMPORTANT NOTES:

1. On the Yangon-Mandalay-Lahae Trip, Baggage is required to be given up to baggage handlers at t Yangon/Mandalay airport, and to be only delivered at Lahae Camp to avoid tangling of baggage with the passengers all along the way. So Guests are requested to carry with you only the essentials such as warm clothes, gadgets, torches, masks to protect dust, and medicines etc along the way.

2. Since the route is just a track, the obese, the elderly, and the disabled are to book for cab seats one week ahead for their convenience.

Optional – Comfortable 4x4 Off Road Wagons can be hired with surcharge for the round trip of Synthetic-Lahae.

3. On account of low temperatures and no heating system here, Guests are required to bring Sleeping Bags, or to hire ones available at the Camp.

4. Local vehicles can be hired to explore the surrounding villages of Lahae.

Bathroom A series of single bathrooms is made of wood and bamboo under a shelter near the halls. To help yourself to have a local bath, it is provided with a water tank and a dipping blow in the bathroom. Warm water is available round the clock, and there are buckets to help yourself for fetching warm water.

Toilets Sitting type porcelain toilets for Gents and Ladies are installed with local wood and bamboo.

Toiletries Toiletries are provided in each of bedrooms.
