Itinerary

Day 1        Arrive Yangon

shwedagon-pagodaUpon arrival at YANGON airport, welcomed by your Asian Tour guide and transferred to hotel.  After small refreshment, your journey begins with an afternoon tour through Yangon’s colonial-style city center.  Visit MAHABANDOOLA PARK from where you have the perfect view on Colonial Buildings, CITY HALL and HIGH COURT. Visit and stroll through the BOGYOKE (SCOTTS) MARKET (closed on Monday and Gazette holidays), a compound of hundreds of food, garment, handicraft and gem stores. After a photo stop at the KARAWEIK HALL, a 'hamsa-bird-shaped' floating barge on Kandawgyi (Royal) Lake, visit the magnificent reclining Buddha CHAUK HTAT GYI. Complete your first day in Myanmar with a visit to one of the world’s most spectacular monuments, the SHWEDAGON  PAGODA.

Day 2        Yangon - Mandalay (By AM Flight)

Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the airport for a domestic flight to MANDALAY. Upon arrival, drive to MAHAGANDAYON MONASTERY where more than a thousand monks live and study. Time permitting you will have the opportunity to observe the monks having their last meal of the day in total silence. Transfer to hotel.

In the afternoon, visit also one of the most revered religious monuments of Myanmar, the MAHAMUNI PAGODA. Mandalay is also a major arts and crafts center. Visit a Kalaga tapestry craftsmen’s shop.

Continue experience the sights and sounds of Mandalay including the SHWE INBIN MONASTERY; the GOLDEN PALACE MONASTERY, a superb example of a traditional wooden building and KUTHODAW PAGODA the world’s largest book made of marble. Then proceed to MANDALAY HILL for sunset.

Day 3        Mandalay / Mingun / Sagaing / Ava

After breakfast, an excursion by boat on the Ayeyarwaddy River to MINGUN, about 11 km (1 hour) upriver from Mandalay. Visit the unfinished MINGUN PAYA, which was meant to become the largest stupa in Myanmar constructed by King Bodaw Paya; one of the world’s largest bells and the 90 ton weighing MINGUN BELL and HSINBYUME PAYA. Return back to Mandalay.
In the afternoon, drive to SAGAING and visit KHAUNGMUDAW PAGODA. Then embark for a short boat ride over a river and explore the former Royal Capital INWA (AVA) by horse cart. Visit NANMYINT WATCHTOWER, the remains of the ancient palace building, also known as “the leaning tower of Ava“; MAHA AUNGMYE BONZAN MONASTERY, built of brick and stucco; BARGAYAR MONASTERY, famous for its impressive ornate woodcarvings and teak posts.

Continue to 200-year-old U BEIN teak bridge, built in 1782 during the era when Amarapura was the Royal capital, for sunset viewing.

Day 4        Mandalay - Bagan (By Boat)

Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to jetty and board a Chinese-built ferry boat for your journey on the AYEYARWADDY River to BAGAN. The trip takes approx. 9 hours downriver, depending on river conditions and water level.

Upon arrival to Bagan transfer to your hotel.

Optional: Experience 1nights/2nights/3nights/4nights cruise between Mandalay and Bagan by exclusive vessels. (Details see River Cruises).

Day 5        Bagan

After breakfast, stroll through the colorful local market and continue the day with visits to the most significant pagodas and temples of Bagan: including SHWEZIGON PAGODA, built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century as a religious shrine; HTILOMINLO TEMPLE, noted for its plaster carvings and KHAY MIN GA TEMPLE, noted for its panoramic view of the area’s numerous monuments.

In the afternoon learn of manufacturing Myanmar’s most treasured handicrafts and visit a lacquer ware craftsmen’s workshop in nearby MYINKABA village. Later continue to MANUHA TEMPLE, built in Mon style in 1059 and explore the MYINGABA GU BYAUKGYI TEMPLE, a temple known for its famous UNESCO protected mural paintings. After visit to ANANDA TEMPLE, with four standing Buddha images, finish the day of sightseeing by watching sunset over Myanmar’s longest river, Ayeyarwaddy from the SHWE SAN DAW PAGODA.

Optional: Experience the magic of Bagan and a thousand years of history from the enchanting platform of a hot air balloon, for the first time ever. Balloons in Bagan offer visitors exclusive sunrise champagne flights over the ancient pagodas of Bagan from late October to April.

 

Day 6        Bagan / Mt.Popa

After early breakfast, drive to MOUNT POPA, an extinct volcano with spectacular views. Mount Popa is a popular pilgrimage destination for Myanmar’s. The local people travel here from far away to worship various animist spirits known as “nats”. 777 steps lead up to the shrine placed on top of the steep Popa peak. Return back to Bagan.

Bagan is not only the site of thousand year old temples and pagodas, but also home too many villages scattered around the surrounding plains. Leave to TAUNG BI VILLAGE, and visit the noodle makers, a Myanmar-style movie theatre, the village hairdresser and a local tea shop. Proceed to visit traditional family business including blacksmiths, brick makers, dry snack workshops and bamboo roof producers. If the time permits, enjoy the sunset at one of the temples.

Day 7        Bagan - Heho (By AM Flight) - Pindaya - Inle Lake

pindayaAfter breakfast, transfer to airport for domestic flight to HEHO. Upon arrival, proceed by road to PINDAYA (60 km – 2 ½ hour) and visit to PINDAYA CAVE, a unique site housing thousands of Buddha images placed there by pilgrims and devotees over the centuries. Continue to visit the Traditional Umbrella and bamboo paper workshop before heading to NYAUNG SHWE (90 km – 4 hours). Boat transfer to your hotel in INLE LAKE.

Day 8        Inle Lake

After breakfast, day excursion by boat on the Inle Lake will include sights of the famous leg rowers, typical floating gardens, local methods of fishing, village life and magnificent scenery. Begin with Local Market (if possible according to market day schedule); the PHAUNGDAW OO PAGODA, one of the most sacred shrines in Myanmar, dating back to the 18th century; SILVER SMITH, BLACK SMITH AND WEAVING WORKSHOPS in YWA-MA and INPAWKHON.

Afternoon proceed to the Western Shore of Inle Lake, where you will find the beginning of a stair path leading to the well hidden INDEIN PAGODA complex. And also visit the NGA PHE KYAUNG MONASTERY wonderfully carved wooden floating monastery in the lake.

Day 9        Inle Lake - Heho - Tachileik (By Flight) - Chiang Saen

After breakfast, transfer to airport, flight to Tachileik, in golden triangle. Border cross to Maesai and continue CHIANG SAEN.

Day 10        Mekong Cruise to Laos

Breakfast at hotel.

After completion of the border formalities in CHIANG KONG, start 2 days experience of adventure Mekong cruise.

7 hrs cruise down to Pakbeng along with village life, mountains, music, meditation, chats and arrive to Pakbeng in the later afternoon.

Overnight stay in Pakbeng.

Day 11        Laung Prabang

Breakfast at hotel.

After visit market of PAKBENG, where the surrounding village of minorities sell their goods, board the boat for second part of Journey. En route visit a hilltribe village where you can watch the traditional process of Lao whiskey production before. Continue to PAK OU village at the mouth of the Nam Ou River, where you visit the Tam Thing Caves of a Thousand Buddhas. Arrive at Luang Prabang around 17h00.

Day 12        Laung Prabang

Full day introduction of Laung Prabang including royal palace, the remarkable monasteries, village and beautiful waterfall.
End of the day, peace mind with view of the Mekong.

Day 13        Laung Prabang - Siem Reap

Breakfast at hotel. Afternoon 2 hour flight to SIEM REAP (Angkor). Welcomed by your Siem Reap guide and transfer to hotel. Evening explore the night market of Siem Reap.

Day 14        Siem Reap

The monuments of Angkor are one of South East Asia's historical highlights and shouldn't be missed by tourists traveling in Cambodia. The sanctuaries represent the national pride of the Khmers and were listed in 1992 as a World Heritage site by the UNESCO. Built between the 9th and 14th centuries with extraordinary creativity, the temples belong doubtless to one of the world’s architectural wonders.

After breakfast, visit the famous old palace, Angkor Thom are Bayon-Baphon, Terrace of Elephant Phemean Akas, Terrace of Leper king. Afterwards visit Taprom Temple. Back to Siem Reap. Afternoon visit the amazing Angkor Wat. Watch sunset from the top of Bakheng hill.

Day 15        Siem Reap

After breakfast, visit Kbal Spean, distance is 49km from Siemp Reap Town and it is literally means “The head of the River”. It is one of the river in 1000 lingas that made up of unique lingas. Lingas stands into the riverbed of the Siem Reap River. It was believed that the lingas spiritually “fertilized” the waters that the Eastern bay and irrigated the rice fields.

In the afternoon visit to Banteay Srei and Banteay Samre. Afterwards back to Siem Reap.

Day 16        Depart Siem Reap

After breakfast, visit the Great Lake ( Tonle Sap Lake ) in Indochina with a 100km, in 1-2 hours cruise you will experience visiting the Fishing Villa where fisherman are living on the water, you will see how different their lives with other Fishing Villa around the world. Black to Siem Reap Town, visit Chantier Ecole-Artisan d’angkor, the place is in the Ministry of Education that was constructed in 1992, this place renowned woodworking, stone carving and polychrome training center and workshops. Free tour of different classes and workshops offer a glimpse into the unique skills training program, teaching young artists about the techniques and styles of classic Cambodia Artistry. And then visit to Old Market for shopping then transfer to the airport for flight off.
