Sandoway Resort (* * * *)

Sandoway Resort is the most fashionable resort at Ngapali Beach. Highly original in its unique Design and built in traditional materials one feels an atmosphere of exclusivity and privacy. 6 acres of lush tropical gardens and 450 meters of beach front. A superb place to relax and unwind from hectic modern days. European management.

Location: On the southern part of the beach, set amidst the original coconut groves leading directly to the white sands of Ngapali Beach. 20 minutes drive from Thandwe Airport.

Rooms: The resort presently offers 37 air-conditioned rooms in 3 different room categories. The 5 Beach Front Cottages (80 sqm) and 10 Village Cottages (80 sqm) are 2 storeys high. On the ground level is an open plan sitting room opening onto a deck to the front. Behind the dressing room is the bathroom with a marble shower and a glassed roof. The bedroom is on the upper level with double or twin beds. An outside sitting area invites with easy chairs. The 5 Beach front cottages are in the front row facing the beach unhindered while the village cottages are scattered in the garden, some with partial sea-view. 22 Deluxe Rooms (75 sqm) of the same design and amenities as the Village Cottages are attached to each other and stand in rows facing the garden (no sea view or partial sea view, not guaranteed). There is now the telephone in each room but no newspapers and no TVs !

The Sandoway Villas were built in the same unique spirit as the Sandoway Resort and are under the same management. Keeping the reception area and villas separate from the main resort an exceptional experience awaits the most discerning traveller. The 10 Sandoway Beach Front Villas and 8 Sandoway Sea View Villas are unique accommodation found nowhere else in Asia. Built in a shaded coconut grove, surrounded by wide areas of gardens to ensure privacy of all guests, the villas are built on two levels opening up to a private veranda with lounge chairs. All air-conditioned villas (120 sqm) offer the same amenities including a living room with day bed, writing desk, up-stairs ‘dream corner’ with picture window over the gardens and sea, separate dressing area, windowed bathroom built around a court yard complete with marble wave bath tub and a separate shower. CD player with a choice of music CDs. There is now the telephone in each room but no newspapers and no TVs !

Facilities: 2 open-air restaurants with verandas overlooking the beach serving a combination of European and Mediterranean cuisine as well as fresh sea food. Asian dishes include Myanmar and Thai specialties as well as vegetarian delights. Bar with piano lounge.

Aureum Palace Spa and Resort (* * * *)

New charming upper market bungalow resort of built of tropical hardwoods and decorated with oriental arts and craft. The resort is located on the beach front in a lush garden setting overlooking the Bay of Bengal. It consists of 1-storey luxury cottages with private verandas and outdoor Jacuzzis, main building housing the reception, restaurant and a bar.

Location: On the Northern part of the Ngapali Beach within 15 minutes drive from Thandwe Airport.

Rooms: 35 Garden View Cottages (90 sqm), 6 Beach Front Cottages with sea view (90 sqm) and 1 Executive Suite Cottage (90 sqm) with private swimming pool and private out door communal area all with sea view. Amata Resort and Spa (* * */ * )

Modern contemporary Asian design bungalow resort. 2-storey high cabanas with 1 to 4 guests rooms in each building. The resort has extensive gardens and wide range of facilities. The main building in the heart of the resort houses the resort reception, restaurant, bar and gift shop.

Location: On the southern part of the beach 20 minutes drive from Thandwe Airport within short walk from local restaurants and village.

Rooms: 14 Cabana Cottages (64sqm) and 4 Grand Cabanas (64sqm), are duplex bungalows built in wood with living/lounge area downstairs and bedroom upstairs. All have private verandas or balconies with full or partial sea-view.

All 23 Deluxe Rooms (53sqm) are facing the resort gardens. These are located in 2-storey buildings in the upper level. There are 4 rooms in each building. The Deluxe rooms offer a separate living area and bedrooms as well as a small balcony. The 24 Superior Rooms (44sqm) are located downstairs and are smaller in size, but have the advantage of an outside sitting area with chairs overlooking the garden. All room types are air-conditioned and offer IDD telephone, satellite TV, minibar and coffee/tea making facilities.
Superior rooms have shower where as all other room categories have bathtubs.

Amazing Ngapali Resort and Spa (* * * / *)

Bungalow style beach resort located directly at the beach overlooking the Bay of Bengal.

Location: Near Zee Phyu Gone village in the Northern part of the Ngapali Beach, within 5 minutes drive from the Thandwe airport.

Rooms: 24 Deluxe rooms (55 sqm) are located in a duplex style building in the second row behind (2nd level rooms have sea view), 10 Studio Suites (62 sqm) and 3 Amazing Suites (165 sqm) which are located on the beach front. All rooms and suites are tastefully decorated in modern Oriental style, bathrooms have bathtubs and separate showers, individually controlled air-conditioning, satellite TV, IDD telephone, safe, mini-bar, tea/coffee making facilities and a hair dryer. Bayview Resort (* * *) 

A charming low rise resort directly at the beach front. Bay View Resort is a favourite mid range Beach resort built in interesting east meets west design. The resort is decorated with modern Asian arts and crafts. European Management.

Location: On the Northern part of the Ngapali Beach and 15 minutes drive from Thandwe Airport.

Rooms: The 31 Deluxe Bungalow rooms, some with sea view (38 sqm) or partial sea view (32 sqm) , 1 Executive Suite (sea view, 2 bedrooms, 72 sqm) and 1 Luxury Suite (sea view, 3 bedrooms, 102 sqm) are furnished with satellite TV, air-condition, mini bar, safety box and a spacious verandas with lounge chairs.

Facilities: The Bayview Restaurant offers Western and Asian cuisine. The Beach Bar is a perfect spot for a sun downer or to enjoy a less formal meal.

Ngapali Beach Hotel (* * / *)

The Ngapali Beach Hotel used as the ‘Strand Hotel’ of Ngapali Beach during the socialist era. The hotel is currently operated by foreign a hotel company and is well looked after and good value option to the upmarket resorts of Ngapali. The hotel compound consists of a reception/check in building, a separate restaurant and bar building in the center of the property overlooking the Bay of Bengal.

Location: On the central part of Ngapali Beach with 700 meters of private beach front, 20 minutes drive from the Thandwe airport within short walk from local restaurants.

Rooms: The hotel has 18 Deluxe Beach Front rooms (40 sqm), Of which 4 are of later construction these deluxe rooms are located in 2 room chalet style buildings. All have private verandas facing the sea. The original Deluxe rooms are located in a row house, all with shared veranda facing the sea.

The 20 superior rooms (36sqm) are located in 2 room chalets facing the sea. All have a private verandah with deck chairs.

The 28 standard rooms (36sqm) are located in 2 storey duplex style buildings facing the sea. All have verandahs of balconies facing the sea. All the rooms have air-condition, private bathroom and are fitted with Satellite TV, mini-bar, tea/coffee making facilities, IDD phone. Safety box available in the reception.

Silver Beach Hotel (* *) 

Superior tourist class, friendly bungalow style seaside resort overlooking the beach and Bay of Bengal.

Location: On the northern part of Ngapali Beach and 15 minutes drive from Thandwe Airport.

Rooms: 18 Standard rooms are to be found in 9 bungalows containing 2 guest rooms in each unit. Each bungalow has a small veranda with chairs. All standard rooms (34 sqm) are air-conditioned and have a private bathroom with shower & bathtub, mini-bar, Satellite TV and Coffe & Tea making facilities. These rooms have Garden View.

Suites rooms have the same facilities but are much larger and have sea view. Each bungalow contains a suite, there are 7 Suite Rooms (96 sqm) and one larger and spacious 1 Grand Suite (136 sqm). All suites are located directly at the beach with access from the veranda.

Rooms: 38 bungalows (34 sqm) all with sea view. Each bungalow has a terrace overlooking the Bay of Bengal. All rooms have air-conditioning, private bathroom with shower and bathtub, mini-bar, Satellite TV, hair dryer and a telephone.

Small charming boutique style bungalow resort with wooden chalets tastefully built and decorated with local art and décor.

Location: Located on the beach front in the Central part of Ngwe Saung Beach, 15min walk South from Ngwe Saung village.

Rooms: The 20 sea view (25 sqm) and 11 garden view (25 sqm) bungalow rooms are located in units of 2-4 rooms in each building. All rooms have individually operated air-conditioning, satellite TV, mini-bar, safety box and a veranda with chairs. A good mid range bungalow and hotel resort of contemporary oriental design. The resort has several different buildings and bungalows of different construction and style spread out on a vast immaculately landscaped area. Sunny Paradise Resort has a new wing opened in winter 06-07 which is branded as the Dream Paradise. These are under the same management and share the same facilities. Dream Paradise rooms and facilities are similar to the Executive rooms buildings.

Location: On the Northern part of Ngwe Saung Beach in a tropical garden setting directly by the beach within 10min walk from Ngwe Saung Village shops and restaurants.

Rooms: The tastefully designed executive rooms are located in two rows, built in 2 story high buildings facing towards the sea. Each room has a private balcony or veranda. 16 executive Sea View rooms (42 sqm) are located on the beach front, 4 executive garden view rooms (42 sqm) are in the second row at the back of the property overlooking the garden and reception area of the resort. The recently opened new wing 12 Dream Paradise Executive rooms (42 sqm) are exactly same as the Sunny Paradise resorts Executive rooms but only have slightly different decoration. Dream Paradise Executive rooms and suites are all located on the beach front with private balcony or veranda overlooking the Bay of Bengal.
